COMMERCIAL NEW CONSTRUCTION
Mackenzie Crossing
Mackenzie & Heege Roads
Mackenzie Crossing is located on the old Heege School site, which was an eyesore after being vacated by the Affton Elks. This new strip shopping center is a wonderful addition to the Affton community with 13 units of 1320 square feet each. Four of the units are currently occupied and open for business: China Garden, Edward Jones, Little Caesars Pizza, and Studio J Salon. A bar & grill has signed a contract, and work will be proceeding on their three units.

SSM St. Clare Health Center
1015 Bowles
SSM St. Clare Health Center—the first new hospital built in St. Louis County in 35 years—opened March 30, 2009. The hospital has 154 all-private patient/family suites; 30 emergency services exam rooms, with dedicated diagnostic equipment; an outpatient care facility; a procedure center for both outpatient and inpatient cases; SSM Cancer Care; and SSM Heart Institute. The 54-acre campus also includes a medical office building and an outpatient surgery center.

COMMERCIAL RENOVATION
St. Anthony’s Ortho-Spine Unit
10010 Kennerly Road
St. Anthony’s Medical Center recently opened its new Ortho-Spine Center. This “horizontal hospital within a hospital” is located on the third floor of the medical center and includes 62 all-private patient rooms. Specifically designed to care for post-operative orthopedic patients, the Ortho-Spine Center is dedicated to helping patients recover from their surgeries by providing the best possible care in one convenient location. Each room offers sleeping accommodations for a family member and a flat-screen television set. A bright, airy gym boasts specialized, state-of-the-art equipment, where patients receive physical and occupational therapy to help them regain the strength and flexibility they need to function normally at home. A specially designed “apartment,” where patients have the opportunity to practice performing normal daily tasks, like making their beds or removing clothing from drawers, is available to help patients transition to home. St. Anthony’s investment in and dedication to the South County community—from the advanced technology in all-new operating rooms to the latest equipment the new Ortho-Spine Center—continues to grow.
